HarderPlate® is Raptor's abrasion resistant steel wear plate, available in 400bhn, 450bhn, and 500bhn hardness grades for mining, quarry, and heavy equipment applications across all makes and models.
When the job calls for tough, HarderPlate® delivers.
What Is HarderPlate®?
HarderPlate® is a high hardness abrasion resistant steel plate designed for applications where equipment surfaces are exposed to ongoing wear from rock, ore, and bulk material. The bhn rating refers to the Brinell hardness number — a measure of how resistant the steel is to surface deformation and abrasion. Higher bhn means harder steel and longer wear life in abrasive conditions.
Raptor offers HarderPlate® in three grades to match the wear demands of different applications:
400bhn — suitable for moderate to high abrasion with moderate impact. A versatile general-purpose AR plate for a wide range of mining and quarry applications.
450bhn — higher hardness for more demanding abrasion environments where 400bhn wears through too quickly.
500bhn — the hardest grade in the HarderPlate® range, specified for severe abrasion conditions where maximum wear life is the priority.
Heat Treated for Maximum Hardness
HarderPlate® is quenched and tempered (Q&T) steel, a heat treatment process that hardens the steel through controlled heating and rapid cooling, then tempers it to relieve internal stress while retaining hardness. The result is a martensitic wear steel built to absorb heavy impact without cracking or spalling, a critical property in applications where equipment surfaces face both abrasive wear and repeated impact loads.
This is what separates HarderPlate® from plate steel that's simply rolled to a hardness spec. The Q&T process gives the plate the toughness to perform in demanding, high-impact environments, not just resist surface wear.
Applications
HarderPlate® is used across a wide range of equipment and applications in mining, quarrying, and heavy construction. Common applications include excavator and loader bucket liners, haul truck body liners, chute and hopper liners, crusher liners, conveyor components, and general equipment wear surfaces.
Because HarderPlate® is available for all makes and models of equipment, it is a practical wear plate solution regardless of your fleet composition.
Dump Truck & Haul Body Liners
Haul truck boxes are one of the toughest environments for wear steel, constant loading impact, abrasive material flow, and high-drag zones that wear through standard liners fast. HarderPlate® is a common choice for dump truck and haul body liners, often paired with RaptorPlate® chrome carbide overlay plate to balance impact resistance with abrasion resistance in a single liner system.
On many sites, Raptor Defender® Chocky Bars are also installed in the tail section, reinforcing the highest-wear zone where material flow is most aggressive. This combination approach, rather than a single wear product doing all the work, is built from real operating feedback across mining and quarry sites, and it's designed to extend liner life and reduce truck box downtime.
HarderPlate® vs RaptorPlate® — Which One Do You Need?
Raptor offers two primary wear plate solutions and the right choice depends on your application.
HarderPlate® is abrasion resistant steel — tough, impact tolerant, and well suited to applications involving a combination of abrasion and impact. It is the right choice when impact loads are a factor alongside wear.
RaptorPlate® is a chrome carbide overlay plate — extremely hard surface hardness with exceptional resistance to sliding abrasion. It is the right choice when abrasion is the dominant wear mechanism and impact loads are lower.

Laser Scanned for a Perfect Fit
HarderPlate® liner kits are laser scanned and engineered for a perfect fit on your specific equipment. Raptor's laser scanning service is available at any CISC location or directly on site, capturing precise equipment geometry to produce HarderPlate® liner kits fabricated in-house before they leave the shop.
The result is faster installation, complete coverage, and a liner kit that performs as designed from day one.
