Why HARDERCOAT™ on an ice lug
Bare steel grips for a few weeks. A hard overlay keeps gripping.
An ice lug lives on the edge of the track shoe, chewing into hard, frozen, abrasive ground. Steel alone wears round, and a rounded lug is just a bump. The overlay resists that abrasion while the steel underneath stays tough enough to take the impact. That is the balance we chase: tough where it has to flex, hard where it has to bite.
Plasma transferred arc, done right
PTA HARDERCOAT™ is applied with the plasma transferred arc process, a controlled way of fusing a hard wear layer onto the base steel so it stays put when the ground fights back. Consistent application means consistent wear, and consistent wear means you plan changeouts instead of finding out the hard way.
